We wrapped up Vacation Bible School 2011 here at Northwest by a special Closing Program on Friday evening. We had a good turnout, with several of the parents attending, and then with a delicious meal at the end. A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped out with any and every part of VBS this year!! Also, a big thank you to all of you who attended!

Miner Max got soaked again, because we got past the $400 mark on our offering!

Gold Rush VBS: Night 5

Well, it’s almost over, folks. Tonight is the last night. We’re wrapping it all up with a special Closing Program, for kids and parents alike! We had another awesome night last night, our last teaching night, and we surpassed our original offering goal for the entire VBS week ($350), so we set another goal ($400) for us to beat tonight. If we go over the $400 mark, then Miner Max gets another bath before Sunday!!

David led the adult class, and had 5 or 6 in his class each night.

Well, Miner Max did indeed get soaked last night! That means that we surpassed $250 in our offering. In fact, we got up to around $280 last evening. See ya tonight, for our last night of teaching. Don’t forget about the special Closing Program on Friday night at the same time!

VBS night 3 – We had another good turnout, and our offering total was raised up over $150. Tonight, if we hit $250, water balloons will be flying, in route to soak Miner Max, who has been our guest each night. So, kids, bring your money to help the needy people of Joplin, and to see Miner Max get soaked!!

Vacation Bible School night two brought us 5 or 6 more kids, and we raised over $60 more to add to our offering. We’re raising money to help in the Joplin tornado disaster relief efforts. We hope to have raised $300 or more by the end of the week!

Gold Rush VBS: Night 1

We had a great first night of Vacation Bible School 2011! There were around 20 kids in attendance, which is more than we expected for the very first night. Hopefully kids will invite their friends and we’ll have even more in the coming nights. We also got to meet a very special guest last night, Miner Max. He’ll be back tonight, and all the nights, so get ready for another exciting night! If you need more info, please contact us.

The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

Well, without being simplistic or redundant, let me say, first off, that He is a Person. False groups and false teachers would have us to believe that He is not a Person, the third Person of the Triune God, but an ‘it, a ‘force’, the IMpersonal ‘power’ of God. But, if I may, allow me to remind you quickly, that FORCES, IMpersonal ‘its’ cannot be grieved, as Ephesians 4:30 says the Holy Spirit can. And, IMpersonal ‘forces’, ‘its’ cannot be vexed, as Isaiah 63:10 says He can. Furthermore, IMpersonal ‘its’, sheer ‘forces’ that have no personal qualities and characteristics, cannot be tempted as Acts 5:9 says the Holy Spirit can. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, He is a Peron. He is not an ‘it.”

Secondly, allow me to remind you or inform you that the Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, has a ‘job’, in fact, He has many ‘jobs’, and unlike some folks we may know, He is busily at work carrying out the tasks and responsibilities of those ‘jobs’. What does the Bible have to say about the PERSON and WORK of the Holy Spirit?
